9 steps to startup - the overview

The best way to start a small business is to write down the plan you have concerning your new business.
Unfortunately I can imagine that you have so many ideas and concerns about tax, accounting and other stuff that it is quite impossible to write a plan. Where to start and where to end?
I once advised a woman who were to start a children fashion shop who said “I am as lost as if I were to perform a brain surgery; I really don’t know where to start”

There is help
Luckily you are not the first one to start a business and some of us have experience in guiding you to ask the right questions in the right order. I am also sure that you have the personal power to start your own business because you don’t need any specific education or special competences to perform well in your business.

Yes I can do it
As soon as you in your heart have said “Yes I can do it” the necessary competences will surface from the inner you and all your life competences will be at your disposal. It is one of the rewarding things about becoming and entrepreneur.

If you provide the belief in yourself and if you put all your life experience into your new venture I promise that I in 9 steps by 9 articles will give you the guiding line you need to understand how to start and run a small business with maybe you and a couple of others working in it.

The 9 steps
The 9 steps I will be writing about covers all the major aspects you have to make decisions about. If you understand the content of these aspects you know how to navigate in the business environment. The steps are:

1. Business Concept
A good idea is only a good business idea if you are able to make enough money from it for you to live the life you chose. It takes time to formulate a good business idea.

2. Personal Resources
Running a small business is a very personal thing because typically you will be the only person present in the company. The company must therefore be built on your competences.

3. Your product or service
The product or service you offer is the lifeblood of your business. Thus, it is important to analyze its various aspects.

4. Market Description
Before you are able to carry out any sort of sales or marketing action you need to identify the market you want to penetrate.

5. Sales and Marketing
Sales and marketing are your tools used to approach potential customers. You have to choose the best marketing tools for your specific business.

6. Practical Organizing
You need to describe the every-day running of your company, e.g. How to make accounts, Which insurances to take and Legal matters.

7. Development of the business
Which plans do you have with your business? Grow bigger or make sure you have time together with your kids?

8. My budgets
Budgets are the above topics described in economic terms. The more specific the plans, the easier it becomes to work out budgets. You will see the budgets are not so difficult to make.

9. Financing the Startup
Financing merely means: "How do I raise the funds that I need to start my own business?"
