Traffic is the lifeblood of any online business, but ultimately, your sales rate will determine your profit. It boils down to a matter of how many products you will be able to sell.
This is the domain of marketing.

It's about selling your products to your market. However, salesmanship is more than just the offer. It entails many, many things that will condition your prospects' minds to say "yes" to whatever it is that you're selling to them. Salesmanship is much of a science than it is an art form. Though some people make great sales persons, the skill is by no means inborn. It can be developed, and it can be maximized through the implementation of specific strategies that will help you bag some customers.

Here are five sales tactics that will compel your prospects to buy your digital products.
1. Offer freebies. The word "free" is still the most powerful term in marketing. One of your initial challenges is to capture the interest of your prospects, and the best way to do this is to offer them something that they don't have to pay for. Additionally, giving them freebies will work wonders for your online business in the long run. You'd be able to warm them up for future offers. Having won a certain level of their trust by virtue of your seeming generosity, you'd have their gratitude which will help you compel them to buy your products in the future.

2. Offer rewards. Statistics show that 72% of your prospects will always be at the brink of purchasing your products, if you will implement tried and tested pre-selling techniques. Another challenge, therefore, is how you can convince these prospects to let go of their inhibitions and take you up on your offer. By sponsoring a contest (ex. The 70th customer will win this and that; or the names of customers will be included in a raffle for the chance to win this and that), you'd be able to stir up a great degree of excitement that can help them make a decision which is favorable for your online enterprise.

3. Offer a percentage of your profits to charity. Not only will you be giving back to the community, you will also be able to show your prospects that yours is not a business that is purely profit-oriented. You will be able to show them that you have a heart as well, and that you want their help to reach out and render aid to people who are in need.

4. Honor occasions. Stir up even more excitement by celebrating special occasions with your prospects. Christmas coming up? Compete for your prospects' holiday budget by offering a Holiday Sale. Mother's Day right around the corner? Give some discounts to mothers and firmly secure that portion of your target market. Father's Day is up next? Extend the same offer. Occasions are events that people look forward to. Join them in their anticipation and provide a greater degree of excitement during the days leading up to those celebrations.

5. Create urgency. Urgency marketing is a quickly developing field of salesmanship. Basically, it entails the implementation of time sensitive offers to create a sense of panic that will ultimately compel your prospects to buy your products. "Will last for 7 days only" usually works. "This package will never be offered again at such a low, low price" often seals the deal. Employ these tactics and watch your sales rate soar during the days when they are in effect.

Campaigns built around these techniques are sure to provide the "wow" factor that will serve as the deal breaker for your prospects who are still reserving some hesitations on your offer. You'd be able to win them over to your side much more easily.
